Democrats: Michael Bennett (from an important state with a Democratic governor so no need to worry about the seat being lost.) or maybe John Hickenlooper himself for that matter.

Julian Castro: To substantially increase Latino voter turnout nationally.

Possible word card, Joe Donnelly? Could put Indiana into play and maybe help Democrats with working class white voters in the Midwest.

Hickenlooper, Tom Perez or Kaine. Bennett wont be picked, obvious GOP pickup if he opt out of reelection. Tom Perez will be chosen over Castro, Labor Secretary and boast economy record.

Dems: Mark Warner, Tim Kaine, Michael Bennet, Martin O'Malley (had to sneak him in there Cheesy). People usually say Cory Booker, Deval Patrick, Kirsten Gillibrand, Elizabeth Warren, or Amy Klobuchar, but 1.) Booker's not married - that creates problems ("Is he gay?" or "Who is the Vice President's new girlfriend?"), 2.) I doubt Hillary would pick a minority or another woman to be her no. 2, it's just too much for the country to swallow at one time (actually if she wanted to double down like Bill did in 92 when he picked another Southerner, then maybe), and if nothing else then 3.) Warren would never agree to be on the same ticket as her. I actually think some centrist Southerner is most likely to be the VP pick. Evan Bayh, anyone? Cheesy

Reps: John Kasich, Scott Walker (if someone else is the nominee, obviously), Kelly Ayotte, Marco Rubio, Susana Martinez (though I doubt she wants it), Brian Sandoval. Over time, I've gradually come to the belief that the GOP will want a woman or a minority as their no. 2 in 2016. Surely they must know they're trailing with both demographics. If the GOP nominee feels the need to sure up the base, they'll pick Walker or some SoCon like (God forbid) Tom Cotton, who seems to be popular with the fervently anti-liberal base.

Gillibrand and Clinton are both from NY so I doubt she gets picked. Bennett is up for re-election in 2016, why are people including him? Hick is too old, boring, and gaffe prone. And is Perez fluent in Spanish? I think that's very important especially if Rubio is veep.

For Hillary I think the VP will be under 60. She needs a young VP.

It's too bad that Mike Oxley didn't become Governor of Ohio, or even Senator.  I would love to have seen an Oxley-Cotton ticket.

One would hope that Joe Biden is on the shortlist for both parties.

Totally depends in the top of the ticket.

Two best all around R VP options are Walker and Rubio.
Specifically,
Walker/Rubio
Rubio/Walker
Bush/maybe Haley
Paul/Midwestern governor or Martinez
Cruz/Midwestern governor
Jindal/Rubio or Walker
Perry/Paul, Walker or Rubio
Kasich/Rubio

Clinton/Locke, Kaine or Bayh
Anyone else, Klobuchar, Gillibrand or Kaine

Tom Cotton would be able to get the Iranian vote.

Cathy McMorris Rodgers deserves a mention here, if only because, if the GOP nominee is a white male running against Hillary Clinton, there'll be some pressure to add diversity to the ticket.  Or at least to put a woman on the short list.

Ayotte will be facing a tough reelection battle, so it's unclear whether she'll even agree to be vetted.  As for governors like Haley and Martinez…the Palin fiasco showed that there's always some risk putting up a governor with no Washington experience as a VP nominee, because they inevitably have a lot to learn about national issues, and there's no time to tutor a VP nominee like there is a presidential candidate.

So, by process of elimination, CMR becomes a potential candidate to add to the veepstakes mix.

Blackburn would be a better choice than McMorris Rodgers. If Rice would take the job, she'd be the best choice for anyone but Bush as well.

It depends on the top of the ticket.

Joe Biden is a horrible running mate for a Hillary Clinton, but makes sense for someone younger.

Condoleeza Rice would be an atrocious choice for Jeb Bush, and doesn't add enough to a Marco Rubio campaign, but could be an excellent match for Scott Walker.
