This will take me a sec, but I want to know where Atlas is on this topic.

Here's mine (changes by the day) -

ATLeins by Outkast
Blood on the Tracks by Bob Dylan
Supreme Clientele by Ghostface Killah
Curtis by Curtis Mayfield
Velvet Underground & Nico by Velvet Underground

The list changes every couple of years. But these are always contenders for me because I always end up coming back to them for another listen:

Radiohead - OK Computer
Sufjan Stevens - Illinoise
Neutral Milk Hotel - Aeroplane over the Sea
of Montreal - Aldhils Arboretum
Say Anything - ...Is a Real Boy

But, like I said, that's always changing. Right now I'm into of Montreal's "Lousy With Sylvianbriar" which came out a couple years ago, for example (and I'd highly recommend it).

I think the results will strongly correlate to albums people listened to when they were becoming young adults. Then again, do many people even buy entire albums anymore when it's so easy to buy a single song?

Damn, top five is very, very hard. I'm also probably forgetting something (like I was about to completely leave NMH off until I read Tik's post).

Funeral - Arcade Fire
Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030
In Rainbows - Radiohead
Illinois - Sufjan Stevens
The Velvet Underground & Nico - Velvet Underground

Honorable Mentions: Dr. Octagonecologyst - Dr. Octagon; Rumours - Fleetwood Mac; Nashville Skyline - Bob Dylan; Ys - Joanna Newsom; Aeroplane over the Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel; License to Ill - Beastie Boys; Stankonia - Outkast; The Monitor - Titus Andronicus; Transformer - Lou Reed; A Night at the Opera - Queen; My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - Kanye West

Okay I guess I'll be the third person in a row to list Illinoise and Radiohead. Tongue

For the sake of this list I'll stick to pop music, but my real #1 album of all time is actually classical- Bela Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra/Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta, to be specific.

1. Paul Simon- Hearts And Bones
2. Sufjan Stevens- Illinoise
3. Radiohead- In Rainbows
4. Spoon- Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
5. Gabriel Kahane- Where Are The Arms

I'll break the chain without actually having terribly unique tastes. Naturally the list is 60% Canadian.

1. Rilo Kiley—The Execution of All Things (2002)
2. Neutral Milk Hotel—In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (1998)
3. Arcade Fire—Neon Bible (2007)
4. Stars—Set Yourself on Fire (2004)
5. Tegan and Sara—Heartthrob (2013)

Obviously I will make no claims to this being an objective measure of quality.

No order....

The Who-Quadrophenia (my top album for the past year or so)
The Who-Who's Next
NOFX-Punkindrublic
Soundgarden-BadMotorFinger
and...say......LZ II

(though it could easily be Aerosmith Rocks or Toys.....or another few NOFX albums....perhaps Nirvana's Bleach.....or one of the first two Boston albums...maybe Animals or Wish You Were Here)

1. Blind Willie Johnson - The Complete Blind Willie Johnson
2. John Fahey - Requia
3. Sandy Bull - Fantasias for Guitar and Banjo
4. Television - Marquee Moon
5. Twa Toots - Don't Send Me Flowers

You're doing it right. Heard anything that you hadn't heard before but enjoyed in the thread so far?

In the Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson

This is probably my favorite of the so-called "prog rock" genre. I'm interested to know what you think of the track "Moonchild".

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon (1973)

I often wish they'd play "The Great Gig In The Sky" and "Any Colour You Like" more often on the radio in place of the big hits, since I don't think anyone is prone to tuning to their local classic rock station and thinking to themselves: "'Money'? I haven't heard that in ages!"

Seconded. That album got me really interested in "non-traditional" guitar playing, and I turn to it from time to time when I'm having trouble writing. Clears my mind really well.

Doing a top twelve (technically a baker's dozen, but whatever). No particular order beyond the first three.

Inland Territory--Vienna Teng
Seven Swans--Sufjan Stevens
Never For Ever--Kate Bush
Soviet Kitsch--Regina Spektor
After the Gold Rush--Neil Young
Zero Comma, Colorful World--Mass of the Fermenting Dregs
Dire Straits--Dire Straits
Lookaftering--Vashti Bunyan
Press On--June Carter Cash
Boy Alice--Sakamoto Maaya
[Any given ten or fifteen Andrews Sisters songs crammed onto a CD]
Songs from a Room/New Skin for the Old Ceremony--both Leonard Cohen

I like these albums for several different sets of reasons. Some I grew up on (After the Gold Rush and Press On because of my mother, Dire Straits and the Leonard Cohen albums because of my father, the Andrews Sisters because of my aunt and uncle), the Japanese albums I was introduced to through friends in my major during undergrad, the rest are more representative of my actual individual tastes.
