He wants to knock out the person he wants, and he doesn't like Jeb and wants to get him out the race as soon as possible.  But, Jeb is pretty much the reasonable alternative, in a favorable environment to Dems, I don't see anyone else.

Mostly this. I suspect that he wants to be president, but he knows it's not going to happen.  He's going in to take Jeb down to clear a path for someone else, possibly in exchange for a cabinet spot, but possibly only because he knows Jeb can't win and he doesn't want to see Hillary in the White House.  In so doing, he'll get the attention he so loves, as well as an outside shot at becoming president. 

So, 9,  but he knows it won't happen, so 6, possibly in exchange for 3. On the upside, he gets 4, maybe a look for 1, and an outside chance for 9
