Personally I wished that either Mexico or Sweden had won over the US.  If only.

It should have been Italy vs. Sweden. Two countries that are both excellent, but in very different ways. For me, it would very much have been a heart vs. brain type of choice.

I'd love to know how Bork-bork-bork Land deserved to win "S" over glorious Espaņa.

FTR. Write-in: Spain is far more interesting that other countries beginning with "S".

I'll have to agree on how boring and predictable the result is; this is an Anglo forum after all (meh). Also, a quick look on the winners in every letter makes me think that people didn't pick the best option in all cases. It should have been Tibet vs Greenland, Bhutan vs Malawi or Freedonia vs Transylvania (my preferred one).

Oh Canada, oh canada, we stand on guard for thee!
They make good maple syrup!  They also have poutine (yum...), and they have had universal health care since the 1960s.  They have more liberal immigration policies.  Vote Team Canuck!

only because fewer people want to live there Tongue
I think that the many people who immigrate there know what they are dealing with, shua.  There are 257,887 of them in 2012.

"fewer" - you know this word? Grin
that's more than us per capita, why is the fairest means of comparison.

Why?  There's no inherent reason migration to a place should be based on that place's current population.

Logic does not follow.

We have immigration caps, so more people want to immigrate to Canada than actually do. But the same is true for the US of course. Per capita, more people immigrate to Canada though.

The ideal matchup would have been USA vs. either Italy or France.

Yes. Way to ruin a poll series with our opinions. What a shame.

The ideal matchup would have been USA vs. either Italy or France.

Wouldn't any final involving the US have been a certain American win?

I think it was a basic mistake involving the US in the pool. Favourite foreign country would have worked.

But if it had to be USA vs. anything, USA vs. Italy would have been most interesting.
