Richmond's a surprisingly nice town, and the language barrier is hard to ignore.

I am (temporarily) living in Berlin at the moment, and sure as hell wouldn't trade it for Richmond, VA.

Why not? Nice part of the US vs. one of the most interesting cities of Europe. Would presumably be a dilemma for many Americans (70% of posters according to our citizenship poll) and some Canadians. Berlin is also a pretty rude place, so while a great town to visit living there long time might not be that pleasant.

I instinctively shuddered at the idea of living in South London, but then I realised you're asking about another Richmond.

Although Richmond to be fair is very nice and green. Still living there? No

CARN THE TIGES

That is to say, not Richmond, VA. Berlin, of course!

This forum is bizarre. Berlin beats most cities in the world. Richmond is not even the best place in Virginia to live.

Well there are some similarities, both were at one time the capitols of racist regimes and now have a bit of a hipster/counter-culture reputation.

Both are nice, but I think I am going with the Murica option.

Richmond (if by living we are talking more than half a year). Berlin would grind me down in the long run.

Berlin, I'd have to guess.  I've been to Richmond as a child but don't remember anything about it really except that it seemed more aesthetically pleasing than a lot of other 'Southern' cities.  I'm planning to visit Berlin a little bit later this year.

Probably Richmond.  I've visited both cities, but neither for very long.  Richmond is closer and probably more like what I'm used to.
