Kosovo vs. Serbia vs. Montenegro vs. Yugoslavia

This one legitimately surprised me. I didn't expect Kosovo to jump so much more than the others, but I didn't initially account for the wars.

Alumnus vs. Alumna

Probably goals of feminist movement changed - women wanting to pride themselves in being educated and showing it off with a distinct term changed to why should there be a difference in gender between the words. Or it could possibly be that is was only natural to feminize the wors. I'm no linguistics expert.

Same thing but with plurals and the decline of alum

I assume the decline of alum has a lot to do with the decline of a different alum, as its historic uses become less prevalent and chemists started using more specific, technical names for the stuff.
