I don't care about his approval ratings right now. Rubio would by far be the best Republican candidate against Murphy or Grayson.
Stop trying to make Rubio happen. Rubio is not happening.

If Rubio endorses CLC, DeSantis is basically out of this race thankfully.

Stating the obvious as if it's a controversial opinion.

David Jolly is a weirdo who has stopped taking donations and has a bad relationship with his own party. CLC is electable, but has terrible fundraising and zero enthusiasm behind him. DeSantis is probably the frontrunner right now, but the fact that the NRSC seems to be panicking and trying to get Rubio into the race shows they're not really confident about his chances in the general. Beruff would make the Senate race Lean D. Wilcox is a nobody.

If Rubio endorses CLC, DeSantis is basically out of this race thankfully.

I think you greatly overstate Rubio's influence.

Somewhere, Patrick Murphy is smirking.

The best thing Republicans can do at this point is just coalesce around DeSantis. I think he's the strongest candidate they have. (Assuming Rubio doesn't run.)

Maybe so, but DeSantis and CLC desperately need Rubio's coalition of Cuban-Americans and those Tea Partier/establishment crossover types. It would be very hard for them to win with him backing someone else.

Add Atwater's name to the list wanting Rubio to run.

I thought the deadline is/was sometime in early or mid-May.

I think that was for judges. The deadline for House and Senate is June 24.

Is Rubio's poll lead purely because of his name recognition?

Rubio tells Tapper that "maybe" he'd run if his "real good friend" CLC wasn't running. Meanwhile, Beruff's team says he won't leave if Rubio jumps back in.

Now a McConnell PAC says they probably won't invest unless Rubio runs. If I thought Rubio knew anything about strategy, I'd wonder if CLC was a placeholder - but I don't think he knows anything about strategery.

I guess they're looking at OH, PA, and NV?

The people convincing Rubio he'd be a lock if he ran again are the same people who convinced him he'd be a lock if he ran for president. lol

Probably. Murphy has close to none, and neither do any of the Republicans, which is why the polls are meaningless.

I'd be pretty pissed about all this if I was DeSantis/CLC/Jolly. The media, pundits, and elite donor class loves to continue to shill for Rubio so nothing has changed there, but this is essentially a vote of no confidence in all of them by trying so desperately to get him in.

I don't know if FL republicans (or FL democrats) would agree with me on that but I think Rubio wouldn't particularly do well. He suffered a major defeat in his home state. I don't see him winning in FL (if HRC wins here).

Jolly says he'd drop out if Rubio was in. Beruff no, Wilcox hell no.

Rubio himself has admitted he hates the senate.
How can he go now and ask Florida's voters with a straight face to send him back where he hates to be?

Bad idea. If he does this and loses in November, his political career really is over for good.

I see no reason why he shouldn't run, from his perspective. If he loses, he can blame it on Trump being the nominee and other unfavorable circumstances. He can also say he only took it at his party's behest, and was just trying to help.

And let's be honest, he has at least a 50-50 chance of winning it.

A small crack in the once firmly shut door.
