Does it not dawn on him that last cycle he campaigned heavily for Mitch McConnell, by far the most disgusting part of the before-mentioned Washington machine? And that he himself is the son of a US Representative and is a United States Senator. There are other candidates who can run a much more authentic "anti-Washington" campaign, but I guess that is the point. Paul just pays lip service to challenging the Washington status-quo while in reality he is very much part of it and operated best inside of it.

He is more part of it than his father was.  But he still doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the politicians.
