There is nothing wrong with partisans of course. Al is a complete and self-admitted Labour hack for instance, but nobody writes better about UK politics on this site than him.

The most partisan people are probably those who actually work as party apparatchiks of various forms.

Maybe not the most but it's worth noting that Miles, despite being moderately conservative and apparently an independent now, is still very partisan towards the Democrats. Like Al and Phil, he's an example of it not necessarily being a mark of a bad poster.

Illini, IceSpear, pbrower

Bedstuy is also in there

For Republicans, I'd say the Hawk, heatmaster, and those people who stop coming after like 25 posts.

Lief and Torie are the most effective and unapologetic advocates for their respective parties. And I absolutely agree with CrabCake and Madeleine that there is nothing bad about that.

Democrats: OC, BRTD, Lief, pbrower, Icespear, HockeyDude, Illini, Miles, bedstuy
Republicans: Keystone Phil, Torie, Krazen, Heatmaster, Oldiesfreak1854, Reaganfan, bobbolaw

I agree that there is noting wrong with being partisan towards one political party and actually feel that many of our more partisan posters are extremely well-informed and contribute positively to the forum overall.

For the Democrats, I'll mostly agree with those above with the addition of Windjammer and Antonio. I also don't think Miles and Bedstuy are that hackish for the internet politics world.

As a Republicans, it's harder to see the hacks on my own side, so I'll leave that off.

Partisan is not a word I would use to describe Torie.

Not sure Miles should be included here. He supports some Republicans (Collins and Cochran come to mind).

It's really just relative to his views and avatar that Miles is partisan. It's notable in a comparative sense, not an absolute sense.

Miles would probably vote Republican if Southern Republicans weren't the worst of the worst.

Also I nominate myself.

Lol, no.

I will quote Al who sum up the situation well:
Torie's squeamishness about this is amusing given his enthusiasm wrt the gerrymandering possibilities of certain other states.

Those states are not claiming to be drawn in a nonpartisan fashion!   How do you not get this distinction?

Anytime someone on this site agrees with Republicans about anything, they are deemed a GOP hack.

This isn't only about the CA thread. This is a overall impression about Torie. I recall him for instance drawing an OHIO map where the democrats would have got only 4 districts and saying it was a fair map.

To which Ohio map that I drew are you referring?  Let's get the map up first, and then I will comment.  Thing is, that I am aware of no such map that I drew where I claimed 1) the Dems would net only four seats ( as opposed to 4 in the bag with other seats within easy reach, or realistic reach), and 2) was "fair" in the sense that it tried to hew to Muon2's metrics. The thing is, is that in so many states, to get a map where the Dems get a share of the seats that matches their statewide percentages, one has to gerrymander in favor of the Dems to get there. That's because the Dems tend to packed in high concentrations in inner city CD's. You draw those hewing to appropriate governmental entity line subdivisions, and voila, a lot of surplus Dems reside within them, in 20% or more Dem PVI CD's. And suddenly the remaining terrain, becomes a much more friendly Pub playground.
