I don't like the guy, but I think he is eligible. Just being born abroad shouldn't be a criteria since McCain's candidacy.

Yes he is. His mother is a US citizen, so therefore he to is a US citizen. It's rather ironic that he supports amending the 14th amendment to do away with birthright citizenship, which would render him a Canuck for life.

Well, no, in Cruz's case the 14th Amenfment doesn't apply because he was born in Canada. The 14th Amendment only grants birthright citizenship to those born in the United States. But while the 14th Amendment guarantees birthright citizenship to those people and removes from congress the power to deny them citizenship, it is by no means the exclusive means of obtaining birthright citizenship. Cruz obtained birthright citizenship under federal law because his mother was a U.S. citizen and met the statutory age and residency requirements at the time Cruz was born.

So you think John McCain is loyal to...Panama?

McCain was born in the US Canal Zone, anyway, which was a US Territory... or something like that.
Yes, the Canal Zone was US Territory at the time, and everyone born there was automatically a natural born citizen as if they had been born nearly anywhere else in the US.
McCain's father was also serving in the military at the time.

No. Both he and John McCain are ineligible, while Obama is eligible.

McCain's dad was General in our military and McCain was born on our turf (Panama Canal Zone was US territory at the time of McCain III's birth)

Obama's mother couldn't confer her citizenship because she was too young at the time of his birth (several Obama family members say he was born in Kenya) There's also the issue of his getting into the Islamic schools in Indonesia (which he had to be a citizen of in order to get into those schools)
