Do any of you guys think Cortez Masto's defense of Nevada's gay marriage ban could make an opening for Titus in the primary?

Old news, and most people accept that Masto was just doing her job.

This.

^That article posted by Gass is a good recap of what a cunning and beloved badass Harry Reid is and was. I'm really going to miss him.

Do the Democrats have anyone to run for Reid's seat? Is Carolyn Goodman, mayor of Las Vegas, well liked in the state? Any up and coming latino members of the state legislature?

Likely Former Attorney General Catherine Masto, but Congresswoman Dina Titus is looking at the race seriously.

And X, yes, the Nevada GOP needs to watch for those nutters/failures too. Yikes, there are a lot of potential landmines!

Nevada Democrats are all about pissing away winnable races, so Titus probably will be the nominee.

Republicans despise him so much because he was terribly effective as majority leader.

Pretty much, the more the hate the more you know he did his job extremely well.

LOL, no. This is what you're supposed to do.

LBJ was President then, not Majority Leader.

Imagine choosing between Hutchison and Roberson... 2 guys similar in age, fairly new to public office, with temper and potential durability problems. Both Sandoval allies. What's to choose in a primary?

He'd do the same thing as Majority Leader.

So you don't want the Civil Rights Act to be passed? That's how things work in politics.

No, things work in politics by simply being smarter than everyone else in Washington and pushing whoever gets in your way in front of a moving train.

Ralston says Hutchison & Roberson are likeliest possibilities, then Krolicki. Everyone else either not interested, not serious, or both.

I was talking to my father on the phone last night and he told me that Brian Sandoval is going to finish out his second term as governor and not run for the Senate because he has integrity. My father actually knows the guy since he was my father's lawyer several years ago when we still lived in Reno.

Lots of successful governors don't want to become senators and it's not hard to see why not.

Why not? The hyperpartisan environment in Washington?

That, and the fact that Sandoval likes being governor.

Legislating and being an executive are two very different jobs. Some people can do both, some people can do one and fail at the other, and some can do both but greatly prefer one or the other.

Big egos, like Manchin, especially seem to gravitate towards being executives.
