This has enough votes to pass. Senators have 24 hours to change their vote.

When I was elected, I ran on a promise that I make the opposing case on stuff that was overwhelmingly supported. That has been the case here and it wasn't just devil's advocacy in this case.

I made the case against executive control over the creation of executive departments and the downside risk it could pose to the execution of our countries laws. A president who doesn't like a law could abolish the respective department and make it so that it cannot be enforced. I am glad that the Senate supported my amendments to exempt the Department of Justice from this as that was probably the most glaring concern. I also like how this version treats the Game Moderator as opposed to earlier versions of this, which surbordinated it to the President as well.

In spite of the improvements, the problem is still an issue for me and executive overreach is something that has interested me a lot lately, but has always been fundamental concern when it pertains to my view of politics and conservative philosophy. It was one of the things I found distasteful about the Bush years, it is present throughout history ranging from good people with decent intentions to downright malevolent leaders seeking to empower themselves and it is something that should concern all, particularly with the recent incidents in game regarding Presidents who turned out not to be (them baby, but just a brilliant disguise oh ah oh ah).

As concerned as I am about seperation of powers in general, but especially when it comes to the power of the executive branch, I therefore cannot vote to cede to the President the legislative branch's power to create and abolish executive departments.

The result of the vote:
Aye (9): Everyone but Yankee
Nay (1): Yankee

This has passed and this is now sent to the regions.

I Never Thought I'd Live
To read about this scene
In my hometown paper

Everybody Acts the same
Dear Collegues can you see,
I'll Give You Thoughts
You Cannot Understand

IIIIII am the only nay vote
IIIIII am the only nay vote

Tongue

I came here to break the conformity of thought and that is what I am going to do. Wink
