Guys, Atlasia is never going to have a female President. In any event there's significant precedent for "he/him" being interpreted in a gender-neutral manner barring an obvious "the president must be a man" clause.

I'd like to present this amendment:

I think that themselves is good. There was a debate about it in the first page of this thread.

Yes.

Nicely done.

Ahem.

Presidents shall have the power to grant reprieves and pardons to any individual other than themselves Tongue

Yeah, it may be the case that the him/he thing wasn't legally necessary, but it sends a good message and this is a case where safe is better than sorry.

I think after this amendment passes we should be done her.

Why are we voting on this most recent amendment? Unless I'm missing something (possible), the sponsor never said it was unfriendly.

Oh, yeah. Oops.

I saw Lief voting so I just absent-mindedly voted myself. Sorry.

May I recommend amending this amendment so that title reflects the change to be made in some fashion. Considering all the problems that vague amendments have caused sending one out titled "Constitutional Amendment" would irritate a lot of people.

Yes, you do have a point. I'd guess something of the likes of "Presidential Pardon Amendment" would do?

Yankee makes a good point here. There was a lot of ambiguity over what exactly the last amendment to pass here was about on AFE, probably because of the title, so we should try and avoid this for this one.

-Talleyrand's amendment
-TNF's amendment.

Would 'him or herself' be the correct language? But otherwise, I'm comfortable with both amendments

Yeah both look good.

As to this wording, I recommend this personally:
Presidents may not pardon themselves or their own office.
