I'm inclined to support this. As many of you know, I am the last to oppose means to reduce Presidential Powers, and especially the right to pardon is one I am not too fond of. So yes, I will support this.

I know it will be quoted in the Irony Ore Mine because of my flawed english Tongue,
But, there is a problem with grammar, right???
I mean, the president= 1 person. So, themselves isn't correct, right???

I thought the same, but you know, we are the pinko Europeans, so.. Better keep that to the native speakers Tongue

so before hand could the President pardon himself?

Yes, we even have a precedence when this happened - President Tyrion in October 2014

One thing, I know that IRL ford got questioned for his pardon, but is it illegal (or should it bed) to make a nixon-esque deal with a pardon.

I may is there anything we could do to stop this?

Probably just eliminating the right to grant pardons altogether, which I would not oppose by the way...

I can see your points, oakvale, and they do make sense to me. There are some rulings that I guess should be pardoned somewhere down the road (Snowstalker), and since they were ruled with this pardoning in mind, it would be quite hard for the individuals in question if they were suddenly to be stripped of their only option to partcipate in Atlasia again.
It is however also evident that something must be done to the excess of presidential veto powers - hence why I propose just leaving the bill the way it is - prohibiting presidentials pardons for the presidents themselves, but going no further.
I doubt, to refer to the point the Attorney General made, that this modification would have wide, unforseen consequences, but I am neither native speaker of English nor in any kind familiar with legal texts so I am the last person in this body able to give judgement on that.

To reiterate my former point and the conclusion nearly everyone seems to have gotten, I do support the amendment as it stands, eliminating just the right for presidents to pardon themselves.

Nay

I support the provision that the President can not suspend former pardons. But I oppose the change that he can still pardon himself.

Ah, it's the gender neutral thing.

NAY then, though only because of the "him"

It will be changed in the next amendment. So if you are supporting the entire amendement, why are you voting Nay? Tongue

I'll be voting Aye then.
But as it not really matters - I'll change my vote to AYE

Guys, Atlasia is never going to have a female President. In any event there's significant precedent for "he/him" being interpreted in a gender-neutral manner barring an obvious "the president must be a man" clause.

You never know

We can be pretty sure though Tongue

I saw Lief voting so I just absent-mindedly voted myself. Sorry.

Yes, you do have a point. I'd guess something of the likes of "Presidential Pardon Amendment" would do?
