Massive FF. I read many of his reviews some time ago and he came across as really brilliant and passionate about film.

I wonder how many stars he gave Heaven. (Or Hell. Or Purgatory. Or Limbo. Or any other after-death destination)

0 stars. Too cheery, nothing ever happens, no conflict whatsoever, no consistent plot.

The reason why film criticism is so vapid and terrible. HP. He seems like a perfectly nice guy and his love of movies almost makes me vote FF, but his influence on cinema has no doubt been a negative one, so I can only vote how I feel.

There could only be one (well, and Siskel). Other film critics are weak copies of him.

Pauline Kael was a far more powerful film critic and someone more film critics should idolize.

A true symbol of both Chicagoland and the University of Illinois, two places that I have called home throughout my life.

His work in film was pretty good, too.

Thumbs up. Smiley RIP

I always preferred Siskel, personally, but there's no denying what he did for film criticism as a whole. Major FF.

While I'm not a gamer and do in fact rarely play games more advanced than solitaire, I found his statement about games not being art, so arrogant and so lacking in any form of self reflextion (in how his own chosen media have developed) that I'm unable to call him a FF. Movies have fought for almost a century for it to be seen as a art form, because it differ from more traditional art forms in how it interact with the audience, and then without any reflextion Mr. Ebert make the same jugdement about a new media.
