In liberal America, everyone is a victim except for intentionally slain unborn children.

For the record, I'm pro-choice, but liberals flaunt their hypocrisy shamelessly, and someone should point it out.....for their own good.

I'm not particularly interested in this issue, as unfortunate as it may be. I'm interested in undermining the self-serving confirmation bias that leads to nonsensical vitriol.

People get screwed by laws all the time. If you think a preponderance of the blame can be assigned to one political party or ideology, you're smoking something.

This is more like charging the person who discovers a suicide with murder just to be safe.

Aren't proclaimed libertarians like yourself supposed to care about people getting screwed by laws?

It sounds like it's ambiguous whether the baby was born alive or not, though the quite biased article brushes over that exceedingly quickly.

Innocent until proven guilty.

Yeah, the Religious Right is off their heads and has to remind us that they are still hanging around. Ugh.

Disgusting stuff from the Christian Right once again.  What else is there to be said?

Even the left-wing website that produced this article admits that the woman gave birth and then threw the baby in the trash.  A jury convicted her of that crime.  Does the secular left support the killing of born children now?

What a woman does with her body is not meant to be judged by a jury, prude.

The lady in question gave birth to the fetus.  Whether it was stillborn may have been subject to debate at trial, but, reading between the lines of a terribly biased article, the jury must have found that the baby was born alive to convict her of one of the crimes.

So again I ask, does the secular left support the killing of born children now?

No, but the article mentions that they used highly unscientific methods to determine if the fetus was born alive.  The real issue here are these theocratic anti-woman laws passed by conservative Christian blowhards that try to place blame on women for issues they might have with their own reproduction.

Like I said, disgusting.

I think she probably was correctly found guilty - hard to tell with info on the Web so sparse - but 20 years seems beyond excessive. The feticide punishment is less and being served concurrently, but I'm not sure the neglect alone warranted even half that.

'Neglect' is a funnily anemic way to characterize putting a live baby in a dumpster anyway.

You have also said you don't care about the news enough to want to understand the actual facts behind it, or why your comment is off topic here and doesn't apply to this situation. That makes us seriously wonder why you even bother posting here about it in the first place.

If you have nothing relevant and useful to add to the conversation at hand, you should probably save the keystrokes.
