Of course I care a great deal about other peoples feelings when I debate.  But I care about my feelings even more.

In fact I really struggle to care at all what people think and only care about how they feel.

In person? Yes. On the internet? Yes, but to a far lesser extent.

In person? Yes. Online? Not really at all unless I have some sort of real-life connection to them.

Yeah, that's a very uncommon desire among this forum's users. Tongue

I generally discuss that stuff with people I know, not people I don't know, and some of the people I know I agree with, others I don't. I certainly respect them and am not rude to them, but if we disagree, I assume that they can handle a frank exchange of viewpoints. There are a few people I know who can't, and I won't discuss religion, e.g., with them because it's too sensitive an area for them. My thing is that it's really tough to offend me, so I probably do take peoples' feelings into consideration as kind of overcompensating for my lack of sensitivity.
