I wonder if much of the large number of "undecided" people in these polls are actually critical of Israel but don't want to be misinterpreted as anti-Semitic.

"If we don't bomb Iran, Israel will have to use their own weapons to do it!"

So he admits that Israel & the GOP don't want peace in the Middle East, just war with Iran.

That's how I was for a while.

Neville Chamberlain got a lot of more out of Hitler than Wendy Sherman got out of Iran

This is literally the single dumbest reaction to this deal I've heard yet. It's just so patently false.

Or they know nothing about Israel and have no clue what's going on. I guarantee there are a ton of American voters who don't even know who Netanyahu is.

Ah, so he's going for the Lieberman-esque "blood-gurgling maniac" vote.

I agree that we have to be careful with how much freedom we grant Iran. But this idea that the deal is certain to result in nuclear attack is silly.

I can't imagine what would convince me to support some Chicagoland democrat over Kirk though, and this definitely isn't it.

Public opinion has never stopped the Republican Party from taking a bad idea and doubling-down on it.

Nor has it stopped them from turning the tables with respect to it. You've got to hand it to them: they know how to take an unpopular narrative and turn it into a winning strategy.

The majority support this sort of thing in principle, which is good. But whether the agreement makes it harder for Iran to produce nuclear weapons is one of the main points of contention, isn't it?  Or it's a question of whether the "harder" is significantly harder or becomes a maneuverable obstacle.

Exactly. Only the truly crazed hawks oppose negotiations as a whole. The real point of contention is whether the deal emerging is worthwhile, and what the next move should be if it falls through.
