By from I mean held highest prior elected office or had greatest life accomplishment there.  When will this happen?

If the GOP was to turn the opposite direction they seem to be heading, Huntsman would've been a possibility.

My bet is that that the first Western state to give us a president will be Oregon.

I could see these; additionally, I could see Cory Gardner.

Outside of Atlas, most people see him as a moderate and don't go around shouting that he "wants to ban condoms."

Is Missouri not a western state? Because if it is, then one Harry S. Truman was already president of these United States.

LOL, Missouri doesn't know what it is.  You could make a case for Midwestern, Western OR Southern.

If you consider Missouri to be western, than you and I have very different ideas on what "western" is. Tongue

I do not consider MO Western at all, but I figured if the St. Louis Arch - on the far eastern side of the state - is the "Gateway to the West," then Missouri COULD be thought of as Western. Wink

Also, Ike was from Kansas, so the real question is whether we think Kansas is culturally Western?

Gov Bullock, from Mnt, should he survive 2016, will probably run if Hilary Clinton loses in 2016.

Oregon, Mnt; Washington, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Nevada

Governor Bullock would be a strong recruit should Dems not win in 2016. He would run against perhaps Gov Newsome of CA, in 2020.

A Gov Bullock v Gov Sandoval race possibly in 2020.

You know perhaps we could stick to Census designations here and include the entire continental US going from Montana all the way to New Mexico, since there is confusion as to what West refers to - though possibly excluding Hawaii and Alaska.
