My fellow Northeasterners, my fellow Atlasians, thank you for coming here tonight.

I wish to thank the people of the Northeast and the people of Atlasia for their support and encouragement over the many years I have had the incredible honor of serving in the public arena.

During my time in Atlasia, I have had the privilege of serving as Governor of the Northeast, Lieutenant Governor of the Northeast, Speaker of the Northeast Assembly, and multiple terms as a Representative in the Northeast Assembly.

I have as well had the tremendous experience of making three runs for the Presidency of Atlasia, albeit unsuccessful runs.

During my Presidential campaigns, one cut short, I have had the opportunity of presenting my platform, beliefs, and policies to Atlasians all across this land.  I have visited every part of this nation during my campaigns, and it has been my deep honor to meet so many wonderful Atlasians from coast to coast.

During my time in the Northeast Assembly, I have had the opportunity to debate and vote on many pieces of legislation, some good, some bad, some absolutely horrendous.

But always, through thick and thin, it has been my privilege to represent the people of the Northeast.

My career in the public arena has not always been smooth.  It has been up and down, and I have had my share of victories and defeats.  I have even been the victim of a recall, or as I, and many others like to call it, a witch hunt.  I am pleased to say, that as far as the Northeast Assembly goes, I have had many more electoral victories than electoral defeats.

During my long public career, I have gained many friends and supporters, as well as many detractors.  But that's all part of the game when you spend time in public life.

If I may, I would like to say a word or two about the current session of the Northeast Assembly.  This session is coming to a rapid close, and I wish to say that I have found this current session to be particularly productive and cooperative.  I have very much enjoyed working with our current Representatives and Governor in this current session of the Assembly.

For me, of course, there are two particular pieces of legislation that stand out in my mind.  I am most pleased that the Assembly in this session has seen fit to pass the landmark Care For Those In Need Act, and the Distracted Drivers Act, two bills that I sponsored.  Representative Blair contributed a needed amendment to the Care For Those In Need Act as well.

As many of you know, I am very passionate about caring for the less fortunate and others in need, and to have programs in place to address these issues.  The Care For Those In Need Act is a big step towards achieving this goal.

The Distracted Drivers Act will help tremendously in cutting down on needless road and highway deaths and injuries due to distracted driving.

I wish to thank Assembly members for joining me in passing these historic pieces of legislation.

I have had a lengthy record of public service in the Northeast and the nation, and it is now time to turn these responsibilities and privileges over to the new crop of up and coming legislators and candidates.

Therefore, at this time, and it is with a heavy heart that I announce, that I shall not seek and I will not accept any candidacy for any office in the Northeast or in Atlasia.

Thank you and good evening.

Now we must recall you very quick, before your term is up.

But you can't recall an icon.

It's against the law.

This is a sad day. You, and your common sense principles, will be sorely missed in our regional government, old friend.

Ah, so you're coming for the Governor's Mansion.

Either way, best of luck.

Thank you Senator.

What I remember most about you is from when you were CJO for the Northeast, and I was always impressed with your fairness and impartiality in carrying out your responsibilities while in the office.

Thank you so much Lief.

That means a great deal to me hearing that from one of my best friends in Atlasia, and from one of the finest Senators this nation has ever produced.

Well, I don't plan on hiring a marching band to escort me out of the Northeast Assembly on the last day of this session, if that's what you mean.  Smiley

Winfield, you've been a mentor and a friend to me here, and I'm sad to see you leaving the Assembly.
