Something I put in my manifesto for this term was:

Income tax
0.00%    $0 - $24,999 ($0.000 B)
0.10%    $25,000 - $49,9999 ($1.592 B)
0.40%    $50,000 - $99,999 ($3.602 B)
2.00%    $100,000 - $249,999 ($7.769)
5.50%   $250,000 - $999,999 ($11.457 B)
8.00%   $1,000,000 + ($5.931 B)

so I might as well propose it...

I'm a bit skeptical of a tax raise at this point, since all of our programs look to be fully funded and we don't really have any reason to further expand the surplus.

I feel like the current system is adequate.

What actually happens with the surpluses - does it go into some sort of reserve?

I agree with Representative Pikachu.  We have no need to burden the taxpayers of the Northeast with any further taxes.

Would anyone vote for a tax cut for the lowest earners - without increasing the tax for the highest earners?

0.00%   $0 - $24,999 ($0.000bn)
0.10%   $25,000 - $49,9999 ($1.592bn)
0.40%   $50,000 - $99,999 ($3.602bn)
2.00%   $100,000 - $249,999 ($7.769bn)
5.00%   $250,000 - $999,999 ($10.416bn)
7.50%   $1,000,000 + ($5.560bn)
Total: $28.939bn

It would reduce the surplus slightly, but not by a huge amount.

I'll support that. It'll put us at an $8.297 billion surplus.

Also worth noting that debate time is unlimited. One of you guys has to motion for cloture when you're all ready, and it must pass with majority support.

Gentleman, for the sake of ensuring that this Assembly sees a budget through I motion for cloture.

With 4 Ayes and One members not voting, cloture is invoked.

We will now have 24 hours for a final vote. This will be the final matter seen before this Assembly.
