No, I tended to run away from that sort of thing. Of course the periods of history and literature that I was always interested in generally allowed me to stay clear of (i.e., avoid) people like her.

     Butler is consistently and unnecessarily verbose and opaque. She is something of a poster child for academics being incapable of addressing ideas to other people.
