Video. Apparently her daughter will run to succeed her.

Republicans should take this race seriously. Capps won very narrowly in 2014, and a non-incumbent makes up for the lack of incumbency. It'll be an uphill battle, sure, but it's better to have your eggs in a bunch of baskets.

Presidential year and the family name helps the Democrats, but I would not be shocked to see this seat flip in 2018.

We should definitely put up a fight here, but I really don't see this seat flipping in a presidential year unless there's already a massive Republican victory. But any opportunity to go on the offensive should be taken advantage of.

She seems like a nice lady (at least according to most Hill staffers). But I hope we contest this seat.

Some friends of mine met her campaigning on UCSB's campus, and they had nothing but good things to say. Her favorite part of her job was meeting constituents, and that's literally all she's spent the last few years doing since Democrats became the minority.

She also organizes a January 10th lunch every year with Roy Blunt, Chris Van Hollen, and Greg Walden, who all share birthdays. She's completely adorable.

Hopefully the Democrats can pick a solid minority nominee for the seat.

She was born not too far from where I live, other than that I know very little about her.

Somehow I doubt that Capps' daughter is a minority.

Personally i don't care whether a candidate is male or female, white, black, hispanic, asian or native, gay or straight, even - Democrat, Republican or somebody else. I care whether he/she is a good candidate for district or not..
