Quoth Rand;
There's a couple of problems with that statement. as "Live Free or Die" first became the State Motto in 1945 (During the tenure of Governor Charles Dale), and the phrase itself was first coined by Gen. John Stark, who was not one of of New Hampshire's founders (New Hampshire was founded as The Province of New Hampshire in 1691, and was one of thirteen colonies during the American Revolution, while Stark didn't coin the phrase until 1809)
