Jackson, Johnson, Buchanan, Reagan, Dubya, Tyler, Pierce, Hoover, Coolidge, Fillmore. Too lazy to order them.

My list always changes.

1) James Buchanan - almost no redeeming features in his 'leadership'. Epitome of cowardice.
2) Andrew Johnson - drunk incompetent fool.
3) Rutherford Hayes - sold out the Republican Party to the cost of untold number of freedmen for the sake of power.
4) George W Bush - destroyed the veneer of legitimacy that American policy had in the world.
5) Woodrow Wilson - intelligent, but a racist with noxiously sanctimonious foreign policy. Responsible for Versailles and had one of the most disastrous second terms ever.
6) John Tyler - a boob and a traitor.
7) Richard Nixon - amoral or plain evil? Your choice!
Cool Franklin Pierce - should have been institutionalised. I feel sorry for his personal situation, but he was ... not appropriate leadership material. Oh yeah, and the apologism for the South.
9) Herbert Hoover - ok he came in at a bad time. Sure, whatevs, that sucks for him. So he decided to ... raise tariffs. (Yes I know all early Repugs Purple heart'd tariffs, but it still was a stupid idea.
10) Warren Harding - corrupt moron.

Bonus: Madison for nearly destroying the country, Jackson for being insane, Polk and McKinley for the imperialism, B. Harrison for being an out of his depth nit, Cleveland for sending troops on strikers, Fillmore for being a dull Moderate Hero who jumped in bed with the Know Nothing's, Reagan for supply side wankery etc.

The unapologetic criminals (Nixon, Clinton); the dithering defenders of slave power (Pierce, Buchanan, Fillmore, Tyler); the Strangelovian reprobates who brought us to the brink of a nuclear holocaust (Kennedy, Reagan); Andrew Johnson, an irredeemable, reptilian, white supremacist lush who never should have been allowed to take office in the first place; and Andrew Jackson, the genocidal, hyper-masculine savage.

I can understand and even respect a certain distaste and dislike of Clinton, but to consider him lower than GWB...

As much as I agree with Nix on 95% of things, his hatred of everything Clintonian is bizarrely devoid of any sense of proportion and/or perspective.  I really don't get it.

My bottom 10, order approximate:

1. James Buchanan
2. John Tyler
3. Andrew Johnson
4. Andrew Jackson
5. Franklin Pierce
6. Millard Fillmore
7. Ronnie Raygun
8. Warren G. Harding
9. Dubya
10. Rutherford B. Hayes

I mean, sure, if you want to be "serious" about Clinton the guy probably wasn't a person with a very high moral standard for himself, to put it mildly. But I find it hard to argue that he was a worst President, even by personal standards like that, than GWB. Let alone in practice.

I thought Truman was one of your favorites, or at least one of your least-hated?

Thing is, low personal moral standards are practically a requirement to be President.  If you're judging on that metric, the best Presidents are JQA, Hoover, and Carter, and most everyone else sucks.  Well... I guess JQA was actually one of our best presidents.

The Adams family were temperamentally unsuited for executive power. Literally everything people like  about JQA stems from his behaviour after his time in office.

Ok, let's see:

At higher numbers, it gets hard, but at ten we have the early general who died from cherries, Zachary Taylor.

At nine, it's still hard, but it's the boring and strict Jimmy Carter.

Eighth is the man without a party, John TraitorTyler.

At seven there's the most corrupt president in the history of the United States, Richard Nixon.

Sixth of all is a man who did nothing about a national crisis, Herbert Hoover.

It's easy now to keep going, so at fifth is George W. Bush, the one who caused an unjust war, installed the police state, made the war on drugs literal, and pretended to be dumb about it.

Four is Millard Fillmore. Three words: Fugitive Slave Act.

Third worst is Franklin Pierce, another Southern sympathizer.

Second is Andrew Johnson, who was a horrible racist and was one vote away from being removed from office.

It's near fact that James Buchanan is the worst, or second worst. Everyone knows why.

Harrison and Garfield are excluded.

1. Not sure you can say Hoover "did nothing" ... He literally started FDR's programs.

2. The War on Drugs and the police state so predate Bush that it's not even funny.

Bush made the war on drugs physical, Nixon - Clinton didn't kill Mexican cartells.
