This is America, Maxwell. Any politician or celebrity has the right to run for office if they feel that they can help the country. It's not only Clinton vs. Bush or Walker. The more the merrier. I call on Secy. Tom Vilsack, former Secy. Janet Napolitano, even former Missouri congressman Dick Gephardt to run. This is not a two person election. Free country, fair elections, everyone has a shot at a platform.

Yes. We know. DICK GEPHARDT IS A SERIOUS CANDIDATE.

Oh lord.

I voted for him in 2010 but he's such an awkward man and terrible orator. Anyone would wipe the floor with him.

Chafee's problem is he's never really had to work his ass off to get elected the way most politicians do. He inherited his Senate seat from his father and then he used that name recognition to get a plurality victory in a governor's race. He's not willing to play dirty or gladhand or make a hard sell. If he had been born in 19th century Britain and were inheriting a seat in the House of Lords, he'd be fine.

Supposedly, when he was running for reelection in 2006, he would get up and deliver his canned speech at an event and then just hide in the back of the room and avoid talking to anyone at all cost.

That sounds like something I'd do at a political event.

He gets my vote!

Despite having been a Republican more recently, he's certainly more of a Democrat than Clinton. If O'Malley or Sanders don't work out, Chafee is a good backup candidate, since his positions on the issues are better than Webb's.

Lincoln Chaffee, who voted for the Bush Tax Cuts and wanted to privatize Social Security, is more of a Democrat than Hillary Clinton and a good candidate for jfern. What a principled a progressive!

Don't forget his vote for Trent Lott as Senate Majority Leader.

He didn't even vote for the Bush Tax Cuts though.
