For what purpose? They provide nicotine - that is all some people need. And they do it without harming others.

I found it ineffective as an alternative to real cigarettes.  They might work for some.

unfortunately real cigarettes cant be banned.  too many people addicted.  wouldnt work etc.  the toothpaste is out of the tube, so to speak.

i believe in making cigarettes and all forms of tobacco as expensive as possible.  obviously i believe in very tough anti smoking measures.

the problem with e-cigs is that they are a con.  they were sort of introduced as a (harmless) way for folks to quit smoking.  what is happening is a lot of non-smokers (ie teens) are starting to use them and getting hooked.  we really dont know how dangerous these things are.

Yeah, this is a major concern.

you know who the biggest lobbyists for banning e-cigs are, right?

you dodged the question: the answer is Philip Morris, RJ Reynolds, etc.

I think it is great that a lot of [young] people are vaping instead of smoking traditional cigarettes. I personally cannot stand them, though, because people tend to walk while smoking them, and I am forced to walk into and unavoidable cloud of vapor. But I guess it is worth it if it means less people will be killed by tobacco.

I remember in 9th grade me and my friends used to vape and think we were so cool even though the ones we used always had the lowest amount of nicotine possible. We would walk around thinking we were badasses and blow smoke in other kids' faces. God, sometimes I cringe just thinking of how much of an idiot I used to be lol. Thankfully I was introduced to weed the following summer and that period of stupidity came to a close.

That said, they're cool since they help some people quit cigarettes. As for non-smokers who get hooked on them, nicotine addiction obviously isn't desirable but honestly there are much worse substances to be addicted to, which get nowhere near the same amount of flak. Better to be hooked on e-cigs than HFCS products or prescription meds (even if you actually have a prescription).

TNF, why wouldn't you want the working classes to get their calming and soothing nicotine fix through less harmful means?

for the third time (since I enjoy it, since I've read his postings for 11 years now) I'll point out that Mitty has developed a rabid hatred of cigarettes and tobacco companies in general since he personally quit over a decade ago, yet he stands hand-in-hand with the giants of Big Tobacco on this issue.

Nothing wrong with vaping, but people who vape are almost always douchebags.

Have never smoked cigarettes, have vaped twice (when really drunk). The first time I was a twitchy mess for the next 48 hours. While I can certainly see how its not as bad as cigarettes, I cannot endorse something as good that does that to you.

I just wish people would stop acting like an army of teenage vapers is plotting to murder all adults.  90% of teenagers have never touched a vape.

Not sure how I feel about vaping indoors, but I see no need for advertising restrictions or age restrictions.

Interesting that the opioid epidemic hasn't made people panic in the same way. I wonder if this suggests a hatred of teenagers and of anything they do. I wonder how people would react if opioids were killing teenagers and vaping was popular with working class people ages 50 and up.
