But I'm sure Chafee will still demolish her even though she'll outspend him 1000:1.

Of course, Chafee's huge grassroots support will overcome any Clinton effort.

Chafee's strange-looking haircut will raise more money than the entirety of Hillary Clinton.

I'm sure the Clintons can raise money like Scrooge McDuck. Let's see now if they spend them more wisely than they did in 2008.

supposedly Bush is raising enormous sums of money. It will be interesting to see which of them raises more. Of course Clinton practically has a monopoly on the lefty money whereas Bush has to share (for now)

Yeah, it's really nothing like 2007-2008 in that sense. Obama stayed competitive with Hillary in fundraising. This time, basically the entire Democratic apparatus is behind Hillary. She should definitely be able to raise more than Jeb, who's facing competition from Walker, Rubio, Christie, Paul, Cruz, etc.

Before you take things too far, if you read the article, you see that a senior Clinton aide dismisses the "more money in a week than a Republican's total amount" claim. Hopefully, that will help "soften" the situation for you.

I wonder if that works against her at the moment though.  There isn't immediacy of "I need the money now!" when your primary opponents are a complete joke.  I expect she'll raise a boatload of money anyway.

With the just added record breaking book sales and tour to her list of accomplishments, it is understandable that investors will be calculating with confidence that the entitlement of inevitability is not out of touch reach.

Let the Democratic amnesia over complaints about politics being too saturated with money begin!

Here's how politics works:  You win the election and then you get to change the policy, maybe.  Politics is about power.  If you refuse to compete, you don't get the power to change things.

That's why this argument is trash.  If Hillary Clinton replaces a conservative Justice on the Supreme Court, Citizens United can be overturned.  Boom!  That's a better way to get money out of politics than being a pure, sanctimonious loser.

It's a tragedy of the commons. You want to overturn the rat race, but as long as it's there, you still want to win.

Overturning Citizens United would be a good first step, but it won't solve the problem, either.

Nice try. Unilaterally disarming would only solidify the status quo.

Such is the nature of modern American politics.

yes but at a whole new level. That is as much as Obama, Romney and ALL the outside groups (both Dem and GOP) raised in 2012.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/politics/campaign-finance/

More than doubling Obama's record is a high bar to set. Seems like they are only setting themselves up for bad stories if they dont meet their goal, why not just say they plan on beating Obama's take.
