Nobody commented on me forgetting and designating the previous amendment thread as IDS. Anyway, here is a new amendment with a properly titled thread.

It seems rather straightforward to me, but I'll leave 48 hours for debate.

Sorry, I was looking for IDS bills and forgot we aren't the IDS anymore, so I missed this. Tongue

This essentially removes activity requirements for senators?

No. It's just that we have procedures for removing from offices senators who aren't active. A senator shouldn't be impeached, he should be removed from office.

Do activity requirements exist  for senators elsewhere? If we remove this from the constitution, how do inactive senators get removed from office?

I understand why this is being done. I just want to make sure there is something in place so Senators can't be as inactive as possible in office while other offices get punished for it.

Duke, here was my post explaining the goal of this amendment:
Quote

This is our constitution that only allows impeachment for judicial or executive officer. Neither a judicial or executive officer is a senator.
The 21st amendment contradicts the constitution. My amendment would fix it.

Here are the senate rules, (I will soon try to amendment some things in the senate rules), so my amendment wouldn't avoid senators to be removed from office, just to be clear.

If you do have any other question, I'm obviously available.

Thanks, windjammer.

It makes sense to do this since impeaching a senator really doesn't make any sense.

I will vote aye on the amendment.

Aye. I would be concerned about the Senate properly self-regulating, except it seems to have done a good job of handling it in the past.

With that, this amendment passes in the South.

Why couldn't I get this to happen when I was still in the Senate. Tongue

Anyway, good job legislators and you especially Duke. Smiley
