That's so kind of you to profile one my favorite kooks. This has been an amusing series so far.

Sure Spengler should have kept his conjectures about the course of World History limited to an unsigned editorial to the Daily Mail or whatever, but he did certainly strike a nerve among the imperialist classes with the claim he did make: History will be swept away in a brown tidal wave. Truth be told, he still does.

an interesting mind.  I used to dismiss him as a Nazi precursor, but there's more to him than that.  he had the right instincts, but ultimately underestimated the ability of the West to control the world via what has become known as "post-Colonialism".  this, even after another mass slaughter in WW2 followed by a mass of colonial rebellions in the decades following.  

using finance capital as the major tool, the West has remained on top, though the "white race" is becoming a thing of the past (not that he would have cared about that, at least not as much as your everyday 14-88).

Worth reading for reasons other than in context of 20th century history.  His work actually contains an excellent deconstruction of the whole narrative of "Western Civilization," which is mostly an artifact of geographical and linguistic proximity.  In terms of essence, the modern West has about as much in common with the ancient Greeks as it does with the Mayans or Babylonians.
