NBA player Thabo Sefolosha broke his leg in a scuffle with the police. After being hit in the lower body by a baton, he can clearly be seen having trouble standing and walking. NBA is pissed, Hawks are pissed. NYPD is "investigating".

Maybe people can start giving a sh*t now that an athlete and one of the major four sports leagues are harmed by it.

I haven't read an awful lot about the beating, but was it shown live on the NBC affiliate?

Been in the news for the past week but video has surfaced of the shooting of Eric Harris, a unarmed black suspect who was shot to death by a 73-year-old volunteer Sheriff's deputy in Tulsa.

The official story the Tulsa Police Department has been going with is that Robert Bates, the volunteer in question, intended to use his taser but grabbed his gun by mistake. The video seems to support this, as Bates can be heard saying "Oh I shot him, I'm sorry" shortly after he fires his shot.

The video however shows how sociopathic American police can be. As Harris bleeds to death on the ground, officers can be heard saying "You g ran, shut the f**k up" and "F**k your breath" in response to Harris' stating he was having trouble breathing. The TPD has claimed that the officers were not aware that Harris had been shot during the arrest, but the video appears to show that the TPD is lying.

There's also outrage to be had that Robert Bates was allowed to be a police officer in the first place. Bates, who served as a police deputy for one year in 1964, allowed Bates to be a Volunteer Deputy and let him go on patrols where he could chase, arrest, and apparently even kill people. Bates was given these powers as a reward, as Bates is wealthy and had donated large amounts of money & weapons to the police department.

Sociopathic?
That volunteer was in complete and utter panic.

My mom and dad were putting in a dock when I was little...and my dad slipped, twisted his back under the weight of the dock section and on his way down...smacked his head HARD on the corner, concussing him.

My mom immediately started screaming at him..."oh God what the ffff is wrong with you!?"...cuz she's a sociopath, right?

No.

As soon as it happened, fear hit her like a ton of bricks.  Oh God he's hurt bad...oh God is he gonna die?  Oh God the kids need a ride to the dentist tomorrow and I need him for this and this and this and this and this and this and this and I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHAT THE FFFFF IS WRONG WITH (me)YOU!?

That volunteer cop's world came crashing down around him the instant he realized what had happened.  And he projected the panic at the only other guy present.

Thats a whole different ballgame.

I was more referring to the way in which they treated Harris as he lay dying. I already said I believe that Bates is telling the truth when he says it was an accident.

Charge the old f#$%er with manslaughter. The victim's survivors should sue the police department for giving the guy a weapon and a badge in the first place. The police department shouldn't be in the business of selling play time experiences for trigger-happy morons.

I doubt it, Everyone seems to have child porn of someone these days. It's reprehensible, but it's arguably more common than police brutality.

Surprised that no one has posted this yet. Basically the guy was arrested for reasons that the police still have yet to reveal, and they even admit that he didn't resist arrest, yet he still suffered brutal injuries that ended up killing him while in custody.

a video has surfaced of the unprovoked shooting of dontrell stephens by police officer adam lin. lin claimed that stephens was ignoring shouted orders; this, of course, has turned out to be a total lie. stephens is now paralyzed from the waist down

A pair of Chicago Cops got caught staging the above photo. The officer on the right, Timothy McDermott, was fired in 2014 and is suing to get his job back, while the Officer on the left, Jerome Finnegan, was convicted of leading a crew of rogue cops in a string of robberies and home invasions in 2011.

Man threatens suicide, girlfriend calls 911 thinking he'll be sectioned ... Only for the police to come fully armed to murder him on his bed.

that one's a really strange story.  there's something the cops are leaving out.  the worst he could have done is come at them with or throw the knife... you'd figure that lethal force could be avoided in that situation.

While likely happened was a combination of the "cop life is far more precious than other life" meme that has infected much of modern police culture combined with a reluctance to retreat when he started to get out of the bed while holding the knife.  The idea of backing out of the room likely never occurred to them,

Police shoot and kill college student in Long Beach.

The kid took shrooms at a party, had a bad reaction, fell out a window. His friends call 911 to get him some medical assistance, because he's bleeding and confused. Cops show up and order him to stop and raise his hands, but he's confused and injured - "like a bird with a broken wing" - and doesn't comply. The officer tazed and then shot him, despite friends at the scene telling the officer he was unarmed and begging him not to shoot.

Anecdotally, he was a great guy. I didn't know him personally, but I competed in the same debate event he coached, and I've competed against several of his students before; he was part of the debate community. Really dedicated to helping others. His goal was to become a public defender.

Requiring only that an officer fear for his safety to allow the use of lethal force is an insane standard.
