I wonder if police misconduct has declined over time due to their knowledge that cell phones can video their conduct, and because of incidents like this one. This article from last November suggests its too early to know, since these exposes are relatively recent, and the risk of getting caught may not have been fully internalized in bad cops' minds.

See we do have to be careful about this until all the facts come out. It appears that black and white residents called 911.

See, this stuff always happened. A loud party, out of control kids, cops generally don't draw their weapons but sooner or later you might have to get rough with unruly people. The people at fault are those who don't listen to those who enforce the law.

The liberal argument seems to be that Police don't have the authority to do that. YES THEY DO. Why do you think they carry nightsticks and tasers and guns and pepper spray? For show?

The legal system sure hasn't worked. They always get away with it, and when you try to film them, they beat you and smash your camera. You file a complaint, they don't even investigate and clear the cop of all wrongdoing. A cop kills an innocent unarmed civilian, they don't even press charges. What's left but to say? A cop here died in a traffic accident and 1000 people showed up for his funeral. Yet hundreds and hundreds of people are killed by the very people who are supposed to be there to protect them, and nobody bats an eye.

They all have a power trip, an ego. Most of them only got into that job just so that they could have power over people, and that's what gets people killed. What's left to say besides "F*** the police?"

Perhaps some of the above is true to some extent (it probably is), but the thing is, is that for cops engaging in misconduct, the risk is going up. Any cell phone can video stuff, and its hard to make sure  there are not any cell phones around. So I suspect given that risk, police misconduct is probably going down.
