I wonder if police misconduct has declined over time due to their knowledge that cell phones can video their conduct, and because of incidents like this one. This article from last November suggests its too early to know, since these exposes are relatively recent, and the risk of getting caught may not have been fully internalized in bad cops' minds.

F*** the police. There's a special place in hell for these murderous pigs.

You're not going to get people on your side with crap like this. Your reaction is immature and against everything we've learned about the success of civil rights movements.

The legal system sure hasn't worked. They always get away with it, and when you try to film them, they beat you and smash your camera. You file a complaint, they don't even investigate and clear the cop of all wrongdoing. A cop kills an innocent unarmed civilian, they don't even press charges. What's left but to say? A cop here died in a traffic accident and 1000 people showed up for his funeral. Yet hundreds and hundreds of people are killed by the very people who are supposed to be there to protect them, and nobody bats an eye.

They all have a power trip, an ego. Most of them only got into that job just so that they could have power over people, and that's what gets people killed. What's left to say besides "F*** the police?"

Perhaps some of the above is true to some extent (it probably is), but the thing is, is that for cops engaging in misconduct, the risk is going up. Any cell phone can video stuff, and its hard to make sure  there are not any cell phones around. So I suspect given that risk, police misconduct is probably going down.

Sad there is zero effort here to think about what policies should be followed between seeking an intelligent balance of cops following the rules, and being held accountable, and scrutinized, with the very real issue of keeping crime under control. Let me say it again. Crime kills cities. Beyond the human tragedy, if you want to make poorer areas, and inner cities, turn into, or revert back, into economically dead hell holes, with no middle class to pay the bills, and totally class and racially segregated, with a horrible dead end existence for those within, just let crime run rampant, so that those with means flee for their safety. Pathetic really - and irresponsible.

This thread is far too LAZY of mind in a word. It's time to work the synapses some more.
