Roosevelt's on Mt. Rushmore ffs, he'd beat the other two as Wilson will be perceived as racist (plus: what American likes income taxes!?) and Taft will not do well in today's image-obsessed society.

Roosevelt in a landslide.

Roosevelt in a landslide.

I think that there would be enough loyal Republicans to propel Taft to victory.  Roosevelt would take votes away from Wilson.

Wilson would probably be less of a racist today given his overall political leanings and academic background. If he was as much of a racist today as he was back then he probably would not be a liberal and instead be the type of conservative academic big on promoting the bell curve.

I have a hard time seeing Taft winning at all, let alone running.

I also have a hard time seeing someone as charismatic as Theodore Roosevelt not romping home on Wilson who was terrified of smiling lest he show off his horribly rotted teeth, which today would have had to be fixed if he wanted to have any kind of career in politics at all.

I'd say that this is the most likely map of the three that have been posted. Wilson's racism will not fly in the Northeast and most other places. Parts of the Deep South would be his best bet (see George Wallace, 1968).

How much would Debs pick up? 1-2% (and no states) is what I'm thinking.

The problem with these is that we don't know what issues are in play.

This.  Wilson was a professor during the heyday of racist progressivism in which the left advocated for eugenics, particularly some of the WASPy "progressive" types.  Xenophobic leftism is now just about extinct.

Election thrown to House, Taft elected.

Given what we know about the outcomes today, there is no way on earth Wisconsin would vote for Wilson. Due to his policies, the Dems only managed 16% here in 1920. The second chance for Wilson would not be kind up here in Dairyland.

Out of curiosity, why would the progressive bastion of Wisconsin at the time prefer a staunch conservative over a more "progressive" Democrat?

WWI made Wilson about as popular as the Spanish flu. You couldn't find a more personally reviled American politician in Wisconsin than Woodrow Wilson. Progressive, stalwart, it really wouldn't have mattered much as long as it wasn't Wilson.

Taft implodes. Roosevelt beats Wilson by about 10 points.

Wilson would win, Taft will split vote with Roosevelt. It would be similar to 1992, Roosevelt would be replaced by Perot or McCain and Taft would be replaced by Dubya Bush.

Today's Wilson isnt the 1912 Dixiecrat party.
