The media and pundits are going to look really dumb if Rubio fizzles out.

Paul and Cruz are definitely serious. Enough said.

Sheesh, Rubio isn't even the first Cuban candidate to enter the race.

The "Rubio is electable" meme is getting real old.

538 has become a joke site.

Paul can become serious, Cruz cannot.

I think it's the opposite. Paul has many problematic deviations from GOP orthodoxy. Cruz doesn't.

As for the 538 piece, it's pretty remarkable to have a Rubio piece and not mention immigration. Cruz's consistent opposition to amnesty gives him something to offer GOP primary voters that the two frontrunners don't. Also, Gingrich doesn't strike me as a relevant precedent for how Cruz would be stopped since Gingrich's electability or lack thereof had little to do with his demise.

If Rubio makes it through the primaries with hardly dented from the skirmishes, he will not only be battle tested & hardened from the process, the process of gravitas will be pretty much accomplished and with Florida very much out of reach for Hillary,  Rubio has the luxury of recruiting whoever he feels can effectively blunt Hillary's sexism mantra, who better than Nikki Haley to do that or better still Carly Fiorina.  It will essentially be "good cop, bad cop" routine. Rubio can play Mr. Nice guy & get all the good that comes from that, while Carly essentially skewers Hillary on everything including Bill's philandering, the Benghazi affair, emailgate and the fund raising activities of the Clinton Foundation. Rubio plays up his Hispanic roots and makes the case for change after the Obama - Biden - Clinton years. Yep looking good!

This has been a mainstream media talking point for the past couple of days now, and its quite tiring. Everybody treats Marco Rubio as if he's the real deal, even though he does worse than Paul and Cruz in all the polls. Rubio is more of the same for conservative politics, whereas Paul and Cruz are drastically different and would make changes. People don't seem to like change, so they brush them off as joke candidates.

Rubio is the dictionary definition of a light-weight... he has no real natural base and no niche within the race to fill.

Paul and Rubio will both be strong contenders for the nomination and both finish in the top 3 or 4....I expect Walker to announce within the next two weeks.

Both of the latter have more of a niche than Rubio.

Yes, this too. Rubio would be a fine VP candidate.

Don't get all the hate for 538. Cruz has his batsh**t crazy base and Paul a couple of stoners. Out of the three Rubio is the only one I could see winning the nomination because he appeals to a variety of constituencies.

I think it'll be Atlas.

Atlas turned on 538 as soon as they predicted a Republican Senate majority in 2014 and got it right, LOL.
