I'm surprised Manchin is holding up so well. I guess he's the Dem version of Collins.

Dems want this senate seat, passing it onto nxt generation. I am happy to see Manchin move on, on his own terms, instead of like Pryor.

Manchin would be dumb to get in, unless he is just tired of the Senate and wants to be Governor again. The legislature can overcome vetoes with a simple majority, Manchin would be powerless unless Democrats somehow recaptured a chamber.

His seat is up for grabs anyways in 2018, and the republican wave, in the senate has already started in states like LA and WVA. Dems should start out fresh and get a new candidate and let Manchin go back to Charleston.

He is a blue dog anyways, he was already gov of WVA, and found ways to compromise with the GOP in the state legislature anyways.

Let him run and win and appoint his pal Carte Goodwin as senator.  The dems aren't gonna bail on this race just because they are veto proof powerless, I am for Manchin beating Morrisey for gov.

Manchin is going to win whatever elected office he wants to run for in West Virginia, regardless of national trends.

Manchin's no Mark Pryor. He's still popular.

Mark Pryor wasn't even that unpopular. He just didn't have the same cult of personality surrounding Manchin, and without that, he couldn't survive in a state like Arkansas forever.

If Manchin runs for governor, that's another Senate seat we lose to the Republicans that we'll never get back...

If he wins, he would just appoint a replacement and have a special election just like he did last time.

My thoughts exactly. What's the point being governor if the legislature can ignore you and do whatever they want?

Maybe he thinks that his presence on the ticket will enable the election of more Democrats in the state legislature? Enough to win a chamber or both?

Dems arent gonna cede this seat. Anyways, Rauner did precisely the samething in IL. And the legislature still ignores him, but that's doesnt stop Rauner. Let Manchin take his time and decide to run for whatever office he wants.
