Presumably because the transportation department doesn't trust sneaky foreign symbols that are always taking the jobs of American letters.

This is the next great civil rights struggle.  Congratulations Governor Dayton on leading the charge on this.

Wonderful news!  My family always drove through Lindström on our way to our cabin, and I did very much appreciate its umlauts.

First they came for the Umlauts, and I didn't say anything because I wasn't German or Scandinavian...

There is no greater satisfaction in the world than writing out ö in a word and then speaking it.  Ström...such satisfaction like gorm...not tinny at all, gorm.

How about a fine meal, or sex? I don't really think writing out the ö in a word and then speaking it really compares

Mark Dayton is (and I'm being 100% sincere right now) is the best governor in the country, and it's not even close.

Would someone care to explain the role umlauts play in Swedish and how their presence/absence impacts Lidström/Lindstrom?
