President Biden would face far more trouble with his party's base than he ever expected, and certainly more than he ever prepared for. Biden's War on Terror resulted in an utter revolt by the DA's progressive wing, led by Russ Feingold as Biden's main opponent. This, in addition to news of severe setbacks for the US in Iraq and Afghanistan at the beginning of the year, led to the president being walloped by Feingold in the primaries. Biden, humiliated by the upset, eventually conceded and gave only a tepid endorsement for the nominee afterwards. The AU had a contentious primary between Dick Armey and Colin Powell, which would only be settled during the convention where the two made up and became one ticket. An upset in the Reform Party was also seen when a wave of conservatives flooded the primaries and made Pat Buchanan the nominee over the long expected Jesse Ventura. In the general election, Vice President Bernie Sanders has also jumped in the race.

Tempting as it was to protest vote,...Sanders and Nader are dead horses at this point.  So...

The fact that America was never led IRL by a man literally named 'dick army' is a grave, grave disappointment to me.

The current look so far. Lots of toss-ups here and there. But do not be deceived, not all are between Feingold and Armey (though most are).

This is definitely the most bipartisan only race since 1984, and the greatest favored margin for any one candidate since 1992.

So split between Russ and Bernie. Clark sealed the deal for me though. Voted Feingold.

In the end, with both campaigns opposed to the Iraq War, voters saw little difference and went with the party that gave them the finance reform and other various successful reforms under Biden.

Indeed the only places where the Feingold campaign did not cruise were the  upper Northeast where native-son Bernie Sanders and the general Nader sentiment still flowed.

And the Deep South and Mormon Belt, the former hasn't been DA turf since Al Gore's ill-fated run in 1988 and the latter has been staunch AU territory for a very long time.

To be fair though, much of the South would've gone to Armey if not for Buchanan.
