Sounds like the epicenter of every bad stereotype of Long Island.  I also find it interesting how its one of the wealthiest parts of LI, but is adjacent to one of the poorest parts of LI (Hempstead).

That would be Smash and Boss Tweed's demesne.

Garden City has Roosevelt Field Mall, the biggest one on Long Island (I believe), so they're probably doing okay financially.

At least Garden City didn't try to change their name like West Hempstead did, to avoid the negative connotations of "Hempstead".

Horrible Place, even though I have a few friends who grew up there. Although many of them are walking stereotypes.  Also the mall isnt really something people associate with Garden City. Big a$$ houses and lacrosse, not big box stores.

not really; it's a 20-30 minute drive from me.  though I've certainly been in and around it plenty of times, worked it as a canvasser.

Nassau County itself is just ugly and exhausting, except for the rich-ass enclaves like Manhasset.  it's 90% pavement, 10% grass.  think that over for a moment.
