http://bigstory.ap.org/article/70457c28d15e45d2a63e38261699cdf2/fund-michigan-gov-rick-snyder-hints-presidential-run

People close to Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder have formed a fund allowing him to travel the country and tell of the state's rebound under his watch, raising the prospect of a potential Republican presidential bid.

An aide close to the governor told The Associated Press on Friday that a 501(c)(4) group, Making Government Accountable, was established within the past month. The aide was not authorized to speak publicly about Snyder's plans and requested anonymity.

The aide said Snyder is still considering at a presidential run and that a decision could be made in a few weeks.

Okay. I take back my Jon Huntsman branding on John Kasich. THIS guy would be Jon Huntsman. That being said, I would like him to be a viable candidate, but he's not.

Prefer Kasich, but wouldn't be opposed to a Snyder run.

He fills the void left by Mike Pence's buffoonery and brings us back to an even number of candidates so the stage looks symmetrical. Very important that he runs if we want to do this right.

The only reason the state of Michigan isn't bankrupt is because of the Obama administration's auto bailout; Snyder had absolutely nothing to do with it. The accomplishment of winning 2 elections in GOP wave years hardly sets him apart from the slew of fellow governors that have similarly won reelection during the waves and similarly have no shot of being president of the united states.

This is what happens when Wikipedia lists every Republican elected official as a potential candidate.

I thought it was obvious that these kinds of "official rumors" are basically nothing more than either a book tour or a declaration of interest in the veepstakes?

It's why the official theme song of the 2016 race is "Too Many Cooks".  They even predicted Snyder's interest:

The first GOP debate is going to need a stadium.

The debate is in Ohio in August, so why not rent out the Horseshoe? (Ohio State's Football Stadium)  Your typical auditorium probably will not cut it this year...

Seriously, this is the election where literally everybody and their dog will run.  At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised to see a few pooches throw their bone into the ring...

They are at the dealership right now.  Maybe the Muppets can loan them their tour bus?

And he fits into what niche that Kasich doesn't fill?

He has a better business background, and can run as a political outsider better than someone who was in Congress during the Reagan administration.

Six points in Ohio won't swing an election.

A boost in Michigan could turn a close Republican loss (where they flip Floirda and Ohio) into a win (a 269/ 269 tie, where the Republican controlled Congress determines the winner.)

I look forward to seeing Ben Carson winner take all delegates with 8% of the vote in a 25 candidate Iowa and NH field and storm to the nomination.

I feel sorry for the Iowa and New Hampshire voters this year.  The caucus rooms will be very crowded and very hard to distinguish between one candidate's circle and the next candidate's circle.  In New Hampshire, the ballot will be 3 pages long provided nobody bows out after Iowa and each ballot will need to be accompanied by cliff notes on each candidate.  That's not to mention the campaign ads in those states are going to be brutal, vicious, and long-lasting.

All aboard the Republican train!

Seriously though, this is about pr, book sales, or pure ego. Drop out after IA or NH.

The Republican train is stalled in the station. The passenger load is just too heavy.

OK, Christie has been kicked off the train, and now it has been able to start and proceed very very slowly. It's OK; they're all against high speed rail.
