Meh. This was never law in the past when companies were proud to advertise their ties with organized labour. If they don't wish to advertise those ties now, I don't think it's our place to force them to. It's not like it's a health and safety concern for the consumer, so I'd err on the side of free speech. Unions need to find a way to win the PR war themselves. After all, this government is pretty much helping them win every other battle.

"Encourage" is too toothless. I'd rather this pass or fail on its own merits. Not enter into the books as a meaningless law.

Ingredient and nutrition information is about health and safety. The politics of the manufacturer are not pieces of "must know" information. Mandating that unnecessary information be plastered all over the packaging of a commercial good is an unnecessary intervention. Hence, it is an overstep. Pretty clear to me.
