An increasingly important day.

Enjoy this picture of the redwoods, which persist despite Governor Reagan's best attempts.

Earth Day is like describing things as "fetch".  Sorry but it is.

In honor of Earth Day:

Here's an excellent feature in honor of one of our country's greatest– and most imperiled– natural areas, the Mississippi River Delta.  Between the canals and the channelization and the sea level rise, how much longer does it have?

I'm sure this is old news for many of you, but worth a read (or re-read) all the same.

Earth Day is like describing things as "fetch".  Sorry but it is.

Hey, thanks for the threadsh*t!  It's so nice that you care!

Get right the F out of here with that smug, selfish nonsense, kthxbai?

'Increasingly important' - in what sense? In the sense that climatic change is going to play a larger and larger role in our everyday lives? Because the holiday itself is pretty much dead

In the sense that our damage is increasingly threatening our ability to live here

Whoa, emotional overreaction much?

I'm just pointing out that - like Kwanzaa or Flag Day - Earth Day is not a 'holiday' that Americans unironically care about.  Guess what; today is also Administrative Professionals Day.  Let's take the day off and celebrate!!

But also - like Valentines Day or Mothers Day - Earth Day is apparently a single day set aside for people to care about something that they should be caring about 365 days a year.  And even that's a stretch when discussing the environment; as much as I don't want to be so, Americans just don't care much about it.

I'm willing to get rid of Lenin for the sake of the earth!  Those people were particularly nasty to the earth.

No. I took the opportunity to speak to a group of a few hundred clean energy activists today.
