Looks like Massachusetts has settled on their token Republican vote. It isn't as derogatory as it seems. Baker has presented himself as an independent to survive in a very blue state, and blue staters always need one Republican that they can say "well this one is different" about so that they don't feel too partisan. Mark Kirk is the token Republican in Illinois, which is why he'll compete in 2016.
