I apparently have relatives who could be described as "white trash hippies."  But every socialist I've met is either from Europe or an urban area.

Trust me when I say that there are a lot of far-leftists in Vermont, even in poor rural areas. Now, it is also true that there are indeed more in say Burlington than the rest of the state, but Burlington also has a lot of rich liberal types as well, whereas most of the rest of Vermont is very working class.

Anyway Vermont (of course), though New Hampshire is either my 3rd or 4th favorite state (I put Mass as 2nd, and Maine either 3rd or 4th) especially with no sales tax and the cheapest booze pretty much anywhere.

Truth.

Anyway, I'll pick the state whose politics haven't gone off the deep end...

Incorrect. That'd be the Upper South.

Yeah, NH is so off the deep end with being a consistent swing state and having divided government.

Hmm...tough decision.

Vermont, the state that elected all Republicans statewide for the first 104 years of the party's history, led the fight against slavery, has good cheese, and was an independent nation.

New Hampshire, the state whose motto is "Live Free or Die," the only real conservative presence left in New England, has the oldest state GOP organization (older than the national party), and the birthplace of Ilene Woods (who was Disney's Cinderella.)

I'll go the Howard Stern route and vote for both.

New Hampshire is 2nd best state in New England, after Rhode Island.
