I of course am voting for my avatar - TX, the state in which I was born.  LA is fascinating culturally but is no match in my mind to the Lone Star State overall.

Texas has Ron Paul, but he's canceled out by a lot of the other politicians from there.

Louisiana has great food.

So I guess Louisiana.

Texas obviously.

Also no one lives in the part of the state with an arid desert climate. Most of Texas is way too humid, if anything.

You know how much of Texas's population lives in a trianglur-shaped area going from DFW to Houston to Austin-San Antonio?  About 2/3rds.  Most of the rest live on heavily Hispanic counties closer to the Mexican border.

Yeah, I grew up in Austin. None of those areas are arid, it's really only El Paso and unpopulated west Texas that are "arid desert".

Well remember - LA is actually voted more heavily than TX for Romney in 2012 - so it's arguably more conservative.

While LA has an amazing large city, Texas has 4 of them.

The rural and suburban areas of both states are so bad that they don't deserve to be spoken of.

Houston/DFW/Austin >>> New Orleans

I'll just compile how I voted in all these recent ''state vs. state'' threads into one post, instead of making one post in each of them:

Illinois vs. Wisconsin: Wisconsin
New Hampshire vs. Vermont: New Hampshire
Michigan vs. Ohio: Michigan
Florida vs. Texas: Texas
Idaho vs. Wyoming: Wyoming
Arkansas vs. Louisiana: Louisiana
Kentucky vs. Tennessee: Kentucky
California vs. Oregon: Oregon

Louisiana.  Might as well go all in if those are the choices.  Jambalaya alone makes the choice easy.

Austin/Dallas/Houston and just as awesome food (including much of what New Orleans -- a great place as well -- has)

I'm kind of surprised, isn't Rhode Island the least religious state in America?
