The vote was 56-43.

Can't believe Republicans wanted Holder to stay in office for so much longer than he planned.

Taking the job the people of Texas elected him to do very seriously, I see.

Hating the Attorney General is textbook killing the messenger. Demand Congress reform the laws if you want them unenforced.

Good news. Unlike Holder, she has a record that shows she can be trusted to fairly enforce the law. Hope she starts by going through Holder's list of existing cases and purging some.

I'm genuinely shocked. Although I must say Eric Holder was one of the best AG's we've had in recent memory. He was only hated because of his race though.

Exactly.  But, this Congress never wants to take responsibility for anything.  Governing is risky and people criticize you for it.  So instead, this Congress just runs a conservative talk radio show out of the Capitol building.  Schmucks.

And a big FU to all the morons who last year said Holder was resigning to help Democrats hold the Senate/so she could be confirmed before the new Senate

Terrible news. I was hoping they'd fillibuster her so that Holder, who has been fantastic, could continue as AG until at least the end of Obama's term. Sad

He missed it so he wouldn't be late for a fundraiser in Texas.

The whole Aye list looks like a GOP re-election campaign. It's pretty stupid, of course. Nobody will be voting in 2016 over Loretta Lynch's confirmation.

A Nay vote would have hurt Kirk the most.

That is not what her record shows at all.

1. I think it's more so their opponents won't be able to label them as "obstructionists" for blocking the confirmation of an Attorney General in the event that Lynch didn't have the votes. Nobody cares that they voted aye but voting nay would have been ammunition for an attack ad
2. I've always been under the impression that usually when legislators running for reelection make these kind of aisle-crossing votes, it's more about the big picture statistics; e.g. if Kirk votes for noncontroversial Democratic bills occasionally then he can avoid getting attacked for "voting with the GOP 99% of the time" or whatever

You'd think the Republicans would've preferred to get rid of Holder earlier, based on their public dislike of him.
