The lolcat Bible is a perfect example of someone taking a joke and ruining it by running it into the ground. Of course, the lolcat joke was already fairly close to the ground.  It generates mild pity from me, but it's not worth generating any scorn.  Meh.

The only time the Lord's Prayer is ever mentioned is if someone is talking about Matthew 6 or Luke 11, or using it as an allegory for something in the sermon. But if that's ever been done, no the LOLCat Bible has never been used as a translation. Though once the woman speaking using each line as an allegory did start it with "Our Mother who art in Heaven..."

That could be either bad or good. Too often the Lord's Prayer is recited formulaically without any thought given to what it means. Still it does provide a good template of what Christian prayer should focus upon.

I just don't think a good solution to the problem of saying the Lord's Prayer rote without thinking about it is to stop saying the Lord's Prayer.

It can be if they're saying prayers with the same basic content but phrased differently.

Well the prayers are basically just made up on the spot by whoever is speaking then.

And actually what Ernest proposes above is exactly what this lolcat prayer does.

Except that the lolcat prayer isn't about prayer, it's about humor, and rather meager humor at that. I seriously doubt that anyone actually uses it as prayer or the lolcat bible as a bible.

How so?  And if so, how is it blasphemy when translations into real languages are not?  I don't see God as taking particular offense at humor, even when it isn't good humor.
