I think he could since the environment is a huge issue and he could reasonably get to her left on Hunan issue.

Realistically? No. But he'd have a small chance at least, which is more than any of her current opponents can say.

No. Gore has been out of national politics too long to have a realistic shot.

Ironically, Gore's ceiling is probably something near that of Bill Bradley in 2000. He might do a bit better, but I doubt that he could win. As others have said, he would definitely have a better chance than O'Malley, Chafee, Sanders, or Webb. Given the right circumstances, he could pull it off though.

Gore is probably Clinton's best potential challenger, but I still think he doesn't have a chance. I do think he would be good to strengthen Clinton as a general election candidate.

I think that would be a bigger issue if he was a Republican.

Let's be honest, Bush v. Gore 2.0 would be a politics nerd's wet dream.

That was many years before he ran for president or even governor. Plus he remarried, which oddly enough helps lessen the damage.

He might, but he may not. Some may see him as too wealthy like Romney was in 2012.

It'd be much more interesting general election match-up with him than it would be in the primary. He would lose the primary, no doubt, but would enjoy sympathy within some corners of the party. In the end, he'd probably wind up with a two-way proportion comparable to Romney/Santorum (assuming no other relevant challengers, he'd get ~30% of the vote).

The general, however...I think you might have a substantial group of people who voted for Gore in 2000 and that haven't voted D since give him a second glance; pity voters for having the election stolen from him/realizing just how bad Bush made things. On the other hand, his persona and image has taken a far-left turn since 2000, so I'm not confident how many of this group he'd actually be able to reclaim.

He could ... but Hillary would have to have done something really terrible that has not yet come to light.
