Assume that costs are the same, or that you get a free trip to either one.

Since I have mountains but no tropical beaches at home, obviously Barabdos.

Bhutan seems more interesting to visit than a random Carribean place.

Bhutan is a pretty special snowflake as far as countries go - extremely isolated and built around traditional Buddhism to a degree that really doesn't exist anywhere else.

Nothing against Barbados, but the nations of the Lesser Antilles are pretty interchangeable - you're not getting anything on Barbados that you're not going to get on St. Kitts or Anguilla: nice beaches and steel drum music and the occasional historic sugar plantation or colonial estate.

Barbados (sympathizes with the Lhotshampas).

It comes down to whether you'd prefer a typical caribbean vacation (beach, resort, etc.) or a trip to an exotic, remote, mini-Tibet.

I'd say those losing one's independence due to demographic changes, while certainly not optimal, is better than ethnic cleansing to preserve said independence.

I think really depend on whether you take on vacation to relax or to brag about your vacation to your friends and co-workers afterward. If it's the latter I would say that Bhutan may be only second in bragging material to North Korea.

True.  I prefer areas that are modern, technologically advanced, and wealthy..........hence, Barbados would win 10 times out of 10 for me.  But Bhutan would be good bragging rights material.

Getting a free trip to Bhutan would be a no brainer. If you have seen one Caribbean Island, you have seen them all, sort of. That would be a relative yawner for me.
