Well... winning ME-02 + CO + IA + FL + OH would get them to 269 EV. No need for them to win VA, NH, NV or WI anymore because a tie would basically be a Republican win. If the Republican candidate spent much time and money there, he would stand a (small) chance of winning it and save Poliquin at the same time. I mean, it would be easier to pick up ME-02 than WI or NH, wouldn't it?

They won't win ME-2 without NH.

Of course they should.  It's a chance for an EV.  They need to defend NE-2 as well.

They can definitely try to win ME-02, but it will probably be as much of a fluke as Obama's NE-02 win in 2008.

It's strategically advisable that they contest New Hampshire first.

Probably not worth it.  If ME-02 (or NE-02 for that matter) ever provides EV #270, the opposition party will almost certainly take full control of ME or NE after the midterm and switch allocation back to statewide.  There would be no long term benefits to either party with more winnable swing states out there.

Didn't Kerry win it by 5 points in 2004 ?

If John Freaking Kerry won it, Republicans have no chance of winning in it a reasonably close election. It would have to be a 1988 or 2008 landslide to do so. Kind of like NC for the Dems.

They tried that in Nebraska and it failed earlier this year. http://www.omaha.com/news/legislature/winner-take-all-electoral-vote-bill-fails-again-in-nebraska/article_cbf16214-ccc3-11e4-8a03-8bc57b862824.html

They'd won't win ME-02 without winning VA, NH, NV, and WI first.  It would only happen in a Republican landslide, not a close election.

If Republicans win that electoral vote, they will already have won.

It's nice if they win it, but it is one vote.

New Hampshire has roughly twice the population, and four times the electoral votes. So the effort is better spent there.

Not to mention ME-2 is rural as all hell and would be very expensive to campaign in.

Sure, why not? If it looks bad they can always pull out later, similar to Hillary with her red state targets such as IN/MO, etc.

It'll at least be a way to distract Democratic resources even if they can't win.
